Was D3142 scrapped at C.F. Booth, Rotherham?

D3142 was withdrawn in March 1969 whilst based at Thornaby.  Disposal listings  generally give its disposal as C. F. Booth, Rotherham. This is likely because they have used ‘The Railway Observer’ of November 1977 (p.369).

No observations at Rotherham have been traced, neither have any at Thornaby after withdrawal.  Any observations of this locomotive in March 1969 or later would be thus of great interest.

Suspiciously the C. F. Booth disposal information fits the pattern of ‘Zulu’ fabrications. It appeared following an appeal in ‘The Railway Observer’ for information about the disposal of locomotives that were not known.  D3140 was also mentioned in the same context at the time and are also unproven disposals.

Whilst  it is likely D3142 was scrapped at C. F. Booth, Rotherham this is unproven.
