Which Rotherham scrap yard, if any, was D4091 scrapped at?

D4091 was withdrawn in December 1968 whilst based at Doncaster.  Disposal listings give various disposals, generally these can be interpreted to be either C. F. Booth, Rotherham or Slag Reduction Company, Ickles, Rotherham.

‘The Railway Observer’ first listed D4091 as an unknown disposal in April 1971 (p.116).  It wasn’t until the March 1976 edition (p.81) that any information was published. It then saying “4091 was sold from Doncaster to P. Wood, Rotherham, during December 1968”.  This was expanded on in October 1978 (p.365) where it says “4091 withdrawn in August 1968 from Doncaster was sold to P. Wood, Rotherham during December 1968 and cut up at the Slag Reduction Co., Ickles (amends p.81, March 1976 R.O.)”.   It is worth mentioning that no scrap yard by the name of P. Wood has been traced in Rotherham.  Peter Wood of Eckington, Derbyshire were a “brass plater” involved with railway rolling stock disposals but their activities focused on carriages and wagons rather than locomotives. 

‘Locomotive Directory’  shows the disposal as “P. Wood, Sheffield 12/68 c Slag” with a note that D4091 was “sent to Slag Reduction via P. Wood (no cutting date)”.  However in Supplement 3 (p.1) it says that D4091 went to C. F. Booth “1/69, i.e. not to Slag Reduction”.

No sightings of D4091 supporting disposal to either C. F. Booth or Slag Reduction Company or that it was ever in Rotherham after disposal have been traced.
